Medium's claps, on your own site
On Medium, readers can clap up to 50 times per story. Those claps only exist on Medium. If you publish on your own site, Appreciate Button gives your posts the same kind of button.

What carries over
- Several claps per reader. You pick the limit: 50 like Medium, 10 by default, or 1 for a plain like.
- A count on every post, kept per page automatically.
- A small celebration on each clap: a burst, and a quiet sound if you want it.
What is different
- Readers need no account. The limit is enforced per reader on the server, without cookies or sign-in.
- The claps are yours. They are stored on the hosted instance or on your own server, not on a platform.
- No ranking or earnings. Claps here don't feed a recommendation system or a payout. They tell you, and your readers, what landed.
